The Reckoning has Begun

Date/Year

• After many omens to many oracles and the chosen of various deities, Heliod, the sun god, seems to have started his bold move to establish himself as the major deity of the world.
• During the night the characters (and all of Theros) woke up to a spectacular thunder and light show playing across Nyx, the night sky. After a massive, sky-covering lightning display, Heliod appeared looking a little bewhildered and angry. It seems he had come for Keranos, the god of storms, but Keranos had prepared for this night and had disappeared.
• Heliod retreated, but not before leaving small sun-like orbs in the night sky, claiming to now also be the god of the night.
• As in Nyx, on the mortal world, the forces of Heliod mobilised. Keranos was quickly cast out and his followers declared blasphemers.
• In Krimnos, where the characters resided, the Riders of Heliod advanced on the Temple of Keranos and also circled Hyno's Summit, where the Oracle of Keranos, Bronte, lived.

• Friends of Bronte, Faidon and Aros, heard all the trouble in town and overheard hoplites loyal to Heliod making for their apothacary business. With a smoke screen bomb, they escaped out the back and made their way to Hypno's Summit, so find Bronte calmly sitting there with his gear packed waiting for them.
• The three descended onto the landward side of Hypno's Summit towards the edge of the great Nessian Wood, when griffons dropped several Riders of Heliod either side of them on the path. The griffons returned to get more riders whilst another circled overhead with General Talaoni Syraphos in the saddle.
• Meanwhile, Astar and Cerabe, who lived in the woods and were out watching the light show, heard the commotion between the three fleeing and the Riders of Heliod trying to capture them. They also recognised that it was the Oracle trying to escape. Astar used his divine boon to extend the forest to hide the three fleeing and form a wedge between the hoplits on the ground.
• The hoplites created spears of radiance to light their way, but were sill reluctant to enter the newly formed woods. General Syraphos shot down a scorching ray of radiance almost seering Aros. Then Astar used his magic again, this time to send the griffon the general was riding into a rage. The beast became angry and hard to control, and after a moment tossed its rider into the woods a near distance away.
• 2 hoplites when to find their fallen general. Another braved a move towards the characters and attacked with his spear of radiance. His partner threw his then backed out of the trees. The party ganged up on the single hoplite, finding him hard to hit, especially getting past his shield, but then is radiant spear winked out and he too retreated from the fight.
• This was the group's chance to flee deeper into the woods. After an hour or two of stumbling through the woods, they set up cam and discussed plans, before catching a few hours sleep.
• Each of the heroes have a quest and it was decided the quest for the Sword of Stars was the closest and easiest to get started.

Old Olga

• At daylight the part took the trade trail northwestward through some farmsteads.
• Not far past the last farm, they encountered an old lady shepherd who had lost her goats.
• The party decided to help her, though a few had their suspicions. She climbed on Astar's back and pointed to the woods at the crest of a hill.
• The woods were cold, dark and unnaturally quiet, with distant chimes being the only sound to come from within.
• After bumbling about for around half an hour they came across a tree with all sorts of fetishes hanging from the branches. With no sign of goats, Bronte confronted Olga, having his suspicions she was a witch or hag leading them into trouble with plans of eating them. Her reply of, "Just one of you will do," surprised the party.
• When things looked hostile, Olga grabbed a large, rusty knife from here large bag and put it to Astar's throat. Astar went to snap Olga's staff, which is was holding… (and that is where the session ended).
