Nyancos

Nyancos is allied with Setessa. It is a small village in a verdant valley on the edge of the Amatrophon region within the Nessian Wood. A stream from the northern mountains widens into a small lake on the south side.

The village is only home to around two dozen families.

COMMON KNOWLEDGE

Nyancos's claim to fame is that one of the mythic Trees of Karametra grows on the edge of the village green. One of its founding heroes, Feodor, is said to have planted the tree after stealing the seeds from sister hags he defeated.

The valley offers pasture for sheep and cattle, while the stream provides a small mill and the lake a source of fish. The village is renowned for athletic, deep-brown horses bred here. As many families live in the surrounding woods as they do in town.

The Heart Tree

A huge white oak known locally as The Witch Oak that is sacred to Karametra, and why the temple was built here. Supposedly planted by the commoner-cum-hero, Feodor. The tree had grown its first fruit in living memory, but all was destroyed during the Night of Fire when a fireball from Nyx smashed into the tree.

The Muse's Mug

A small tavern (kapeleion) just to the south of the Village green and by the bridge over the stream.

Twinwood Stables

Where the famous Nessian Melas horses are bred. The stables are located just east of the Village Green.

Village Green

Central gathering of the village with the waterfall to the north and the Whispering Grove to the west.

Whispering Grove

An open-air temple dedicated to both Karametra and Nylea. The Heart Tree of Karametra used to stand beside its western pillars and dwarf the temple, but the tree was destroyed in the Night of Falling Stars.

PEOPLE

As in the majority of Setessa, Nyancos is a human dominated. A single satyr and centaur live here permanently, but others visit from time to time, especially Lagonna centaur merchants. The village has a close relationship with the dryads of the woods and they would often visit the Heart Tree.

Patrols of the various Setessan regiments often pass through and the people appreciate their protection, making sure to look after the troops when they visit.
