Years

The years are marked 'N.F', meaning Nerathi Founding. The number of years since the founding of the Kingdom of Nerath - even though Nerath grew to be an empire, rose and then fell over 100 years ago, it is still the common reference point for the people of this region.

Months & Seasons

The common calendar of the people is known as the Shentulkan Calendar based upon the moon cycles these tribal people follow. It consists of 383 days a year, divided into 12 months, each with 32 days, excepting Vskihyi the last month, which has 31 days.

The year starts with the second month of winter, Unolvtana. Often, people have difficulty pronouncing the strongly accented Shentulka names and as a result their common 'Moon' title is used more widely.

Weeks & Days

A week is eight days (but there are only seven in the last week, 'Lost Week', of the year). Each year starts with a new week and the first day of the year is always a Bearday. The 'Lost Day' doesn't really exist, and myth has it that Raven stole the last day of the year; hence the last week of the year is missing Ravenday.

Days of the week were named after the most important spirits of the Shentulka people. Many people have adapted these days to suit their own deities or beings of veneration, but the general sphere of influence has remained.

In order :
Days of the Month Name Day
1st, 9th, 17th, 25th Bearday
2nd, 10th, 18th, 26th Drakeday
3rd, 11th, 19th, 27th Thunder Lizardday (often just called Thunderday)
4th, 12th, 20th, 28th Hawkday
5th, 13th, 21st, 29th Serpentday
6th, 14th, 22nd, 30th Bisonday
7th, 15th, 23rd, 31st Stalking Catday

Moons

There is one moon, known simply as The Moon to many, but referred to by a different name depending upon the time of the year by the Shentulka.

Current Date

  • Death & Taxes mini-game

Started in 729 N.F. Also 10 years after the 'Battle of Brindol'.

The campaign starts near the end of Fall, with the characters heading to prosser to help with arsonist attacks. The game begins on 28th of Trading Moon (Fall 3), around 9 months after The Battle of Hobs Hill and the trouble started in Prosser.

  • Hobs Hill Heroes

Started in 729 N.F. Also 10 years after the 'Battle of Brindol' and running concurrently with the Scales of War Campaign.

The campaign starts with the characters battling a force of goblinoids led by aberrant ogres and a cloaked mage they dubbed 'the Necromancer'. The Battle of Hobs Hill took place over the 5th & 6th of Bony Moon. We are picking up play on the 8th in the dwarven hold of Dorrahig. The dwarven army has returned to the hold, the characters have had a chance to rest, and are about to be rewarded in the Throne Room.

  • Scales of War Campaign

Started in 729 N.F. So 10 years after the 'Battle of Brindol' when the Red Hand Horde was defeated.

The campaign starts in the heart of a typical winter, meaning there is snow on the mountains but not in the Vale itself. Exact starting date is: 19th Unolvtana (Cold Moon, Winter 2). 3rd day of the 3rd week of the month makes it Thunder(lizard)day.

  • Red Hand Campaign

Started in the 718 N.F.

Summer came early and although it was only early in Dehaluyi (Summer 1) the weather had been hot for some time. Exact campaign starting date was Dehaluyi (Green Corn Moon) the 8th, making it Ravenday.

(CNote: Those of you who know me, would know I am pretty excited to incorporate a lot of American Indian mythos into this campaign. You may have also noticed the calendar sounds rather American Indian. In fact I based the months and moons upon the Cherokee Calendar as presented on the following website: http://www.americanindian.net/moons.html ).
