(See 2E D&D Night Below book 1 p38 (history) & 41 (detailed description)).

  • Scales of War Campaign: Characters went there with Lady Dogra to help her find her uncle - taken by Lostafinger hobgoblins to this place. The party cleared out the top level of bandits, but did not go below the keep. 2 bandits helped the party into the place (Boros and Koss - who permanently joined the party). Some bandits were captured and returned to Dogra Keep with Lady Dogra.

COMMON KNOWLEDGE

There are rumours of this ruined keep lying deep within the forest. It was supposedly the home of the powerful noble house, the Parlfrays, built by Count Sarden Parlfray during the height of Restilor as the region's eastern garrison. Said to have been abandoned around 100 years ago (the same time the nezumi left the forest).

REGIONAL FEATURES

The Broken Spire

Is three floors high with the whole middle floor long gone. A stone stairwell still leads to the top level where the floor has been somewhat repaired and this is a good vantage point for a lookout, though they are partially exposed where the wall has collapsed.

The Dungeons

The spiral stone stairwell also leads to dungeons and a crypt below the keep.

The Surrounds

The bandits have chopped down all trees and bushes out to thirty paces all around the keep. But this does not make for easy going. There are fallen logs, stumps and dying vegetation that hinders movement and the bandits have set various traps in this area.

PEOPLE OF REALM

The bandits that have taken up residence are of a typical mixture of races of the Vale, namely humans, half-elves and the odd halfling or nezumi. They also work closely with hobgoblins of the Lostafinger tribe.

ADVENTURERS

Most likely adventurers in the realm.

GROUPS & ORGANISATIONS

Broken Spire Bandits

This bunch of misfits have been raiding all around the eastern part of [[Elsir Vale]]] abducting travellers. They seem particularly interested in spellcasters who are 'taken below'. Others are often pressganged into joining the bandits, are killed or are also taken below.

Huge, square-jawed mastiffs often accompany these raids.
GAME MECHANICS
Class & Concept Options

  • The typical bandit is a thug, though there are also archers, bandit lords, swashbucklers and scouts in the group.
